Many Heads

One of the favorite times of year for kids is Halloween and Sam is no exception. Once the festivities are done he is already thinking of what he wants to be next year.

A few months ago he finally made the decision that he wanted to be a hydra. Let the brainstorming begin.

I figured I'd make him the center dragon to provide the body and tail. Now all I had to do was figure out how to make all the other dragon heads. I was thinking of 3D forms like paper mache or fabric but finally came up with a more 2D version. Sam was pleased so it was a go.

I think the costume was a success. Sam was happy with it and he even won 2nd place at the party he went to and one of the houses gave him their best costume prize for the neighborhood. What's not to like about a science kit and a 1lb block of chocolate?

Jump! Jump! Jump!

Sam is 8!

This year Sam wanted to do something a little different for his birthday celebration. He wanted to go to the jumpy party place, Pump It Up! This was quite the different experience as all we had to do was show up with a cake, goody bags and a credit card.

The kids had a fabulous time. They got to run around in a couple of different rooms and then have pizza and cake.

Sam did want a bit of a pokemon theme, so that is supposed to be Pokemon character, Arceus on the cake. Not the best rendering but he liked it.
Most of all, Sam had a great time!

Another Idea

The pattern I had found for the peacock had some limitations so I might be revising my project to another pattern. I found a picture/drawing online and did some revisions. I'm thinking the new pane might look something like this. Not sure what the background will be - flowers or just plain background. The planning of a new project is exciting but a little frustrating too.

Planning

I do like to move from one thing to another and as I am getting close to finishing my sun project I am thinking and planning the next one.

This one is a pattern I picked out before. I have wanted to do a peacock and looked at quite a few before I found this one. It will be made to fit in the dining room window. I will have to decide later if I am going to also make panels for the side windows.

You Never Forget

Sam is learning how to ride his bike. He has had it for a while now but he seems more than ready to really learn now. The first set of trainers got a little smooshed by the car so new ones have been installed and we have gone out a few times to the school yard to practice.

Sometimes there is more playing than riding, but it's all good.

Coming Together

How does a whole season go by without putting something on here? I have done some glass fusing and had a few trials to get what I wanted. I guess I've been lucky in the past, but when I was trying to duplicate what I had done before it just wasn't working.

Finally did get what I wanted and today I actually finished some things into some wearable jewelry. Some of these are going to a friend to give to his family and friends for gifts.
